Should have just been called 'Roger Rabbit'
Did they not test audience this title?
shareI think the title is cool.
shareThe novel is called "Who censored Roger Rabbit", so I guess that they wanted a similar movie title.
But I would assume that most people just refer to the movie as "Roger Rabbit".
Hey, I actually read the novel! Found a copy in a used book store in the 1990s!
It was pretty weak. I don't remember anything about it.
I actually enjoyed the novel. I like its many references to both cartoon and superheroes and the climax had an even more shocking reveal than the movie.
shareI prefer the question set up in the title. It's more intriguing.
shareI think it was intended to be a series of movies but for some reason only the one was made.
shareThe original novel is called 'Who Censored Roger Rabbit?'
Anyway, I like the title.
The title "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" works on so many levels, as in: Roger Rabbit is just a toon, how can a drawing on paper possibly be framed for murder? Then you realise how toons work in this movie, and you see his antics and you think: how could he kill? He's usually on the receiving end of lethal actions and weapons, and yet he doesn't bear any grudges against anyone else. Then you see his innocent and friendly personality and you're doubly convinced he's innocent.
This is why the present title works.
