What made you laugh out loud?

What was your favorite and funniest scene? Mine was when Ruprict (Martin) poked himself in the eye with the fork that had a cork on it.

reply

"May I take your scepter, sir?"

I slept with you and you're in love with my husband. What the hell am I supposed to do with that?

reply

Michael Caine dancing with Janet, while taunting Steve Martin with his Cheshire Cat smile. Steve's tortured look and wincing. The sailors behind him are indignant.

I have loved reading through this entire thread - so many funny moments!

One obscure one; when Janet comes crying to Jamieson, telling him that Freddie had taken advantage of her and then stolen the $50,000 dollars, her mink, everything, even her little change purse, said with a crying whine. Everyone in my adopted family has seen this movie, and all of us say the words 'little change purse' with that crying whine!

Another favorite exchange:
Freddie: She caught me with another woman, you can understand that, you're French...
André: To be with another woman, that is French. To be caught, that is American.

Last but not least; I mentored a young colleague who had problems with his mother, and one day he sweetly said that he wished that I had been his mother. Every year, he sends me an e-mail with the subject line of "Mother's Day Greeting" and the content is always "Not Mother?"

That is the sweetest thing I ever heard!

Funniest parts for me:

"Not mother"

At the table when Steve asks "can I go to the bathroom?", and he sits still for a moment and we hear a trickle sound, and then says " thank you"

Almost every moment with Rhupret.

"To be with another women, that's French. To be caught, that's American."

Fanny Ubanks from Omaha and every scene where she's mentioned.

Steve in the wheelchair starting to fall down the long outdoor stairs to the beach with the comical music starting.

How Caine and Andre thought that Steve was the jackal until near the end.

There are too many good moments here, just some of them:

1.The whipping scene (tickle tickle tickle) is just great, brilliant.
2.Not mother?"
"No Ruprecht, she's not our mother"
3. Oklahoma
4. "We're getting married."
"Oh really?"
5. "I saving my money for someone special, my grandmother"
6. "May I go to the bathroom first?"........"Thank you"
7. "As well as I did not agree to rule Ruprecht, the Monkey Boy"

There are a lot of more. This is a very good movie, very funny, I really have here the perception that both Michael Caine and Steve Martin really had a fun time.
