When that guy is singing the song 'Queen to be', it is so funny. Does anyone know what the guys name is, cos I need to find that video online

And also, when Akeem is happy after going out with Lisa. He goes back home and hes singing in the street and everyones yelling for him to shut up LOL

'Consciousness is a curse. I think. I feel. I suffer.'

reply

That actor's name is Paul Bates...he plays Marty, Gary Oldman's henchman, in "True Romance"...

One of my favorite scenes is when Akeem steps in front of the cabbie at the airport and he goes "you dumb *beep* and then later in the cab Akeem goes "what does dumb *beep* mean?"

Classic...

Mr. Pink: You shoot anybody?
Mr. White: A few cops.
Mr. Pink: No real people?

Definetly the funniest

They think we're the demons now - Prue Halliwell ~ All Hell Breaks Loose ~ Charmed

reply

Yes I think that is the funniest. Or maybe even the whole boxing talk in the barborshop lol

reply

"...Ihopeyoudon'tmindmecomingoverandsittingdown. But I've been watching you all evening. And I wanna TEAR YOU APART. And your friend, too."

reply

"And don't be pulling that falling-down-the-stairs shet, now you conscious"

For me, it has to be the whole ongoing gag for Soul Glo.

reply

I used to be on clean-up just like you guys. But see, now I'm washing lettuce. Soon I'll be on fries! In a couple of years, I'll make assistant manager and that's when the big bucks start rollin' in.

reply

The interesting thing about that scene is you have three stand ups in it:
Eddie Murphy
Arsenio Hall
Louie Anderson

reply

This is my personal favourite. Mind you, there are so many other great moments in this movie.

reply

The boxing talk!!!!! Definitely my favorite scene!!!! SOOOOO funny!

Wait! Wait! Where are you going? I was gonna make Espresso!

reply

I'm watching that scene right now. The lyrics are the funniest part. "Free from infection", "quench your desire", "to be used at your discretion". Then she barks like a dog lol

reply

my favorite part is when Eddie come out the bathroom
and the man said he will cherish that day of his life.
something like that, lol,I have not seen the movie in
a year.that was so funny though, everyone thought something
else happen in the bathroom.ha

reply

I just watched the movie again today and I never actually paid attention to the lyrics because I thought it was just hilarious with him singing like that. But then when I heard the "free from infection" line I started laughing like "Wait up. Did he really just say that?"

reply

The entire movie is funny, but I'll name some that haven't been mentioned.

Akeem goes to the barbershop to get an American haircut. Old dude clips his tail, and says "that'll be 8 dollas." Hilarious!

"This is beautiful, what is it? Velvet?"

The engagement scene: "He helped GILLIGAAAN get off the island." hahaha

Hardison: You know how I feel about mind games, Nate...NEGATIVELY.
Dexter S4:The ending SUCKED!!

reply

Hey Stu your rents due m*th#f&Cka!!!

reply

When Akeem steps out onto his apartment balcony and says "good morning my neighbours", then "f you", then he replies back "yes, yes, f you too!"

hahaha

reply

I love the part in that scene where Akeem tells the robber, "Please refrain from using any further obscenities in the presence of these people." You can see why it is funny that Murphy is saying that.

reply

JUST LET IT SHINE THROUGH!

reply

Then he says...."Or I will be forced to Thrash you". Hilarious (again coming from Eddie Murphy). SLJ's original response too: "Who the f^&% is THIS A-Hole!!???"

Also, all the barber shop scenes.

Also,
Cleo McD:"Who knows Hakeem, with hard work in 20 years or so, maybe you can afford a place like tnhis yourself."

Hakeem: "Yes, that would be something." (Knowing how rich he is.....the smile Murphy uses is freakin classic!)

reply

The barbershop and Black Awareness is awesome, and Aresnios "Extremely Ugly Girl scene is hilarious"

But i love, the Sexual Chocolate band

"SEXUAL CHOCOLATE!"

and the barber guy is clapping "God damn that boy can sing"

reply

The most hilarious part for me is:

Semmi opens the door smiling and sees the King standing there: AAAAAAAAAAA!(slams the door in his face) LMAO!

I'll Shout It Everywhere I go, I Love You Barry Manilow!

Drake Hogestyn Is Sexy!!!

reply

[deleted]

Yeah, he is responding to Sam Jackson's cursing, which is something Murphy knows a lot about. Then after Sam says, "What?" like he can't believe this, Murphy goes, "I warn you. I will be forced to thrash you." Sam curses him out and Murphy uses that fighting stuff from the beginning to subdue the robber.

reply

"The royal penis is clean"

reply

"take care of this for me" then Darryl tosses a milkshake at Akeem.

reply

- When Pops McDowell (Cleo) falls up the stairs running to answer the door as he's anxiously awaiting the arrival of King Joffe with his tray of pigs in a blanket

- The look on Darryl's face (aka Mr SoulGlo Jheri Curl head) every time Cleo slams the door in his face.

- When the bum on the stairs farts, after the landlord yells, "Is you conscious? *beep*

- When Semmi & Akeem come out of a NY tourist-y shop with I <3 NY stuff and rapper clothes on, after shopping to "fit in" - they look crazy!

- When one of the guys from the barber shop (the one who's always eating--played by Arsenio Hall) tries to put chicken bones into the church collection plate - and when Sexual Chocolate is playing and the other barber guy thinks he's great.

- "f*k you, f*k you, and f*k you. Who's next?"

- Saul talking about Muhamed Ali saying "Mew-hamood Ali"

- "Ah-ha. Ah-ha. Whaddyou bastards know from funny?"

reply

The whole movie is packed with masterpieces of scenes.

The scenes with the jewish guy always makes me laugh hardest, partly because its so impressive how perfect Eddie nails that stereotype.

"If a man wants to call himself Muhammed Ali, goddamned its a free country!, he should call himself Muhammed Ali!"
or something close to that.

Wonderful movie.

reply

After seeing the employee of the month photo the King roars in anger

"My Son Works!"

I just about died with laughter lol

The barber's crazy stories about meeting Frank Sinatra and Dr. Martin Luther King. LOL

"I've got a secret. I worship the devil."

"See, that's the problem. I can't find a man that can satisfy me. Now, some guys go an hour...hour and a half and that's it! A man's gotta put in OVERTIME for ME to get off!"

"I'm not interested in a man unless he drives a BMW."

"Yeah, well...you know, baby, I'm almost single. My husband's on death row!"

"This is the first date Therese and I have been on - since the doctor seperated us."

"I'm into the group thang."

"I was Joan of Arc in my former life."

"Pu-pu-chika-pu-pu-chika. My name is Peaches and I'm the best. All the DJs want to feel my breast. Pu-pu-ee-oop-ee-oop-ee-oop-ee-oop. Ip-ip..."

"Yeah, I wanna work in videos but REALLY I wanna be my own star in the videos because I wanna become a pop singer and a rock singer and write my own songs, produce my own songs and then I'm gonna try an actress because peoepl tell me how talented I am, I'm a natural and stuff like that, so then I'm gonna write my own stories and direct my own stories and you know, produce the movies I'm doing..."

"I hope you don't mind me coming over and sitting down, but i've been watching you all evening...and I wanna TEAR you apart...and your friend too."

That's the sorta of scene people should be quoting at parties and stuff. LOL

reply

It is more in the form of a question. Of course, since he is the King, he doesn't expect his son to work.
