How old were you when you first saw this movie?

This movie might be the oldest memory I have of myself watching a film on television. Since it came out in 1987, I suppose it aired on tv in 1989... which means I was 7 when I fist saw this movie. I haven't seen it ever since. But I can remember a few scenes. It's funny I was thinking about it recently, and I had no idea what was the name of this movie, but IMDb had a link on the 1980's best kiss scene, and this movie ranked No 1. That is when I recognized the picture of the actors. I'm glad I can finally put a name on this movie. I'll definitely watch it again sometime.

I can't remember for the life of me when I first saw the movie, but it MUST have been at the movies when it first came out, cos I remember talking about it in high school....

Things are never as they seem in fairy tales.

Well I'm watching it right now for the first time and I'm 17 so...yeah. Kinda disappointed with myself to be honest; I'm a huge nostalgia freak and I adore '80's movies and this one is shaping up is be pretty damn good.

I was 12 years-old when I first saw it. Honestly, Watts was my first big movie crush. I remember faking an illness and staying home from school so I could watch it 3 times in one day. I really loved her thoughtfulness and witicisms. The soundtrack is exceptional and her chemistry with Keith is unbelievable. One of those movies where only a well timed kiss was needed. Found it on TVGN a couple of months ago and it revived my love for the film. Watching it with my wife tomorrow night. By far my favorite film on the 80s....Hughes' final teen film is his best effort IMHO.

I saw the movie in the theater in 1987, I was 14 at the time. I loved it and got the soundtrack and wore it out and still listen it to it today. I'm one of the few that got to see it in the movie theater, I'm 35 now.

16, saw it on cable. I remember it well.

I don't have an opinion. The word "opinion" implies the possibility I'm wrong.

I was 16 when I first saw it. I caught it on cable one night, and decided to watch because it was a John Hughes movie. I loved it :D

I saw it three days ago, and I'm 22 already...

Mary Stu is charming and endearing as ever. I wasn't a fan of the tomboys for quite a few years, and her did magic for altering my taste altogether.

The plot is corny and stupid and the movie could use some more cuts especially in the opening, but the kiss and strange ending with the Mary Stu's effective performance had me uprate a star for it. It's a 6.

I don't intend to be offensive, but I have to defend my opinions.

I was probably around the same age, 7, but didn't really have a grasp of what was going on. I'm 27 now and it still is one of my favorite John Hughes films which he only wrote. It still fills me with a sense of angst and yearning so indicative of my both my pre-teen and adolescent years. It's such wonderful chemistry between the two actors and I still laugh at the few comedic moments in it - especially during the scenes with Keith's family.
