Are women really attracted to a short, little guy that looks so young?

In this film Michael J. Fox's character is quite the ladies man, flirting with the secretaries, and the he ends up with pretty Christie who is considered quite the "catch" in the corporation.
It's just hard to believe that this little guy that looks about 16 is such a hit with the ladies!

The only ones I noticed who seem to be into him are Vera, Christie, and I suppose his secretary. If mainly because she kept seeing him half naked on numerous occasions. Vera's attraction started because of how he made her feel about herself. His relationship with Christie started only after she had gotten to know him. The movie does pretty much cop out at the end with Christie and Brantley ending up together after he learned she was having an affair with Howard, and Vera suddenly no longer having any sexual feelings for him.

Bette Midler had a joke about this: Twenty goes into eighty a lot more than eighty goes into twenty.

What if this is as good as it gets?

I kept thinking the same exact thing! I really had to suspend my belief that these women (who were not only older but also taller than MJF) were swooning all over him instead of merely seeing him as a cute little kid-like character. Sure, Jan!

There was a man named Davey Jones who was the singer for the Monkees who was about Fox's height and also looked young who was a hearthrob for a while, too. They thought he was cute.

I don't think it's that hard to believe. He was on the covers of teenage girl magazines alongside the likes of Kirk Cameron and Corey Haim. He was a decent looking guy.

reply

Yeah but we're not talking about the teenage girls in both your examples . In the movie these were all older adult professional women.

reply

True. In reality those women would either be with macho tradesmen or the executives in the office.

Davey Jones was on TV, in a rock band, and marketed as a teenage heart throb. The character is in this movie was not any of those things; he was just another guy in the office.

Back in the day a "Pick Up Artist" didn't necessarily have to be good looking or physically perfect. He used his personality to won women over.

Now with the internet and dating apps it is all about looks alone.

That said, women like taller men so yeah I get why it might be hard to believe. I think this film is one of MJF's more forgettable films anyway along with Doc Hollywood where he also ends up with a woman who is very attractive and has another one trying too woo him, but again, he played a Doctor in that film.

From the trivia page of the film "Michael J. Fox and Helen Slater's kissing scenes required a lot of height adjustments, because Fox is much shorter than Slater."

Sounds sexy....
