Why does Bill Duke's character keeps shaving his face with that razor?

What's the point - oh and in one scene, it breaks and he cuts himself, thanks.

Just something he does to keep calm. Or maybe he's just wiping sweat off his face with it.

I wonder how a shaving razor can be effective at wiping off sweat off one's face, why not just bring a small pocket towel for that?

I kinda felt he was trying to look, act and feel tough by doing so, except in the end, he cut himself with it and apparently doing it too much was costly at the end for him.

I myself may at times brush, stroke or scratch my face with certain items from time to time but I would never consistently use a shaver like that as in how Bill Duke's character was doing it in this movie.

I was just wondering if it could be OCD. You could be right, something keep him calm as well.

He's a neat freak.

because it's cool!

i always wondered too.. but it makes sense it's something like counting beads
just a habit to stay relaxed etc

He had a date with long tall Sally lined up for when he got back to the United States.

I thought that was to show he was mentally breaking from the stress.

WOW...I WOULD HAVE NEVER THOUGHT SO MANY PEOPLE COULD MISINTERPRET OR NOT UNDERSTAND THINGS LIKE THIS.

I remember someone on IMDb once mentioning that that was his way of keeping his sanity in check. Considering all the crazy shit his character's been through. He needed something to maintain a semblance of "normalcy" during which. Something like that.

But then how does using a razor constantly on an already shaved face help in a situation like this?

In modern times, I sometimes do this by going on the internet. Guess what? I fail all the bloody time, sometimes miserably so. Lol. :)

😁 Thanks for the reply. My guess is that it's probably like a ritual or something.
