+1 to Natalie Portman in Leon. Hers was a jaw-dropping performance even better than Bale's first, although I was stunned by both.

shareThere does seem to be a consensus: Christian Bale and Natalie Portman -- and one not mentioned yet, Jodie Foster. There were other good performances by child actors, but in most cases the children did not go on to have exceptional acting careers as adult. (I am not going back to discuss Mickey Rooney or Judy Garland.)
Easily one of tne best child actor ever is Christian Bale in this movie. Quevenzhane Wallis was awesome in Beasts of the Soutnern Wild.
