Boy or Girl?
I luved Toaster very much, but it had the voice of a woman. Anyone know if Toaster is a girl or a guy?

shareIn the book, appliances are asexual. However, in the movie, I'd say the Toaster is more male than female (if they're supposed to have genders, which it seems easier to do in a movie, and they'd be more likely to sort of assign them genders anyway.) All of them, actually, strike me as male except for all those that are very obviously female; ie, the tape recording device in the parts shop, the sewing machine, toaster oven, some cars, etc.
Revenge is a dish best served .
There is that one part, where they're in the river, and Kirby says "Where's Toaster?"
I watched it with the subtitles once (because I kept missing things) and Lampy said "He sank..."
Other than that, I can't offer any definitive proof either way, but like others have said, the ones that are female are clearly drawn/voiced that way. Maybe Toaster's voice just hasn't broken? :P
Women can play men's voices for example: the voice of Bart Simpson is Nancy Cartwright. (a woman)
shareIt's a boy.
I thought it was female when I was younger, because it sounded like one to me (still does, actually), but it's male. During the river scene, as aforesaid, the lamp refers to the toaster as 'he', and all the reviews and publicity material say 'he' or 'him'.
Also - I don't really know if this counts - the radio calls the toaster 'Pal'. Somehow, this doesn't seem like something you'd call a .
"Somehow, this doesn't seem like something you'd call a . "
Come on, don't leave us hanging, what is it? ;)
The Toaster is a guy.
"Younger" male characters are usually played by women, you know.
WHOOOOAAAAAA. Toaster couldn't have been a girl! I HAD A CRUSH ON TOASTER..For an appliance...*cough* So anyways...
I thought Blankey was a girl, not a guy.
And now I hear Toaster had a crush on Blankey? Teehee, Teehee!
Mommy, Can I Go Out And Kill Tonight?
