shareI did, with my father. We enjoyed it!
shareI did. My friends and I just loved it!
I saw it again a few years ago, and (unlike all the other Trek films) it really holds up. It's a sweet, funny, charming utterly good-hearted film.
I tried to see at the base theater(it was packed!) at Incirlik Air Base, Turkey around Mar/Apr 1987 but the film got stuck in the projector ten minutes in as it had been all through Europe before getting to our base in the middle of nowhere.
shareI was 9 and it went dark and quiet, and the Challenger dedication came up, followed by all that strange music. The weird music is what struck me the most. It sounded very different to the Star Trek movies I had grown up with so far at the time. I don't remember much else from seeing it at the cinema, just the different music.
I guess James Horner was in the middle of my movie-watching life at the time due to Star Trek II, III, Aliens, Space Raiders, and so on. So I was quite expecting that kind of sound.
I have since seen it countless times at home and love it.
