Stand By Me or The Outsiders
which is better? I vote Stand By Me.
shareStand By Me by far. The characters are more relatable and the plot is more realistic. I had to read the Outsiders and watch the movie in 7th grade, and I didn't really like it. I can't really explain why. I liked the character of Ponyboy but that was it.

Another vote for Stand By Me by a long shot.
Mr. Grady, you were the caretaker here.
Definitely Stand By Me.
and Stand By Me improved upon the written piece. The Outsiders movie wasn't nearly as good as the book.
I really liked The Outsiders but between the two, Stand By Me wins by a long shot. Stand By Me really connects with its viewers and relates to them on a deep, personal level. The Outsiders is well made but I felt it was a little too style over substance to really be a great film.
shareI love both, but they're completely different so I can't really pick one. I think The Outsiders movie was weaker than the book though, so if I really had to pick it would be Stand by Me.
shareThey're a couple of my childhood favorites. I often watch them back to back.

Stand By Me.
The Outsiders was kind of cheesy, on multiple viewings, though the book was much better. In its defense, however, the author was only 16 when she wrote it (18 when it was published), and for her age, it was phenomenal. King was already a seasoned writer when he wrote "The Body."
