Basinger was nominated for a Razzie?
She was outstanding in this. This movie still gets discussed almost 30 years later. Mickey and her were amazing! Rourke still had so much potential in those days too.

Pia Zadora WON a Golden Globe. Using the Golden Globes as an argument against a Razzie nomination is ridiculous. Basinger deserved her Razzie nomination. She was awful in Nine 1/2 weeks.

shareDisagree. That's a really misinformed opinion. There's only two "major" sex scenes that I'm aware of in the entire film, neither of them are really that gratuitous or even remotely like soft-core porn. This was a competent, well made albeit criminally underrated and overlooked film.

Basinger, you kind of have to expect. 9 1/2 Weeks had a reputation for being soft core porn in the US. All anyone knew about the movie was that Mickey Rourke ate off of Basinger’s naked body and she stripped to a Joe Cocker song. Basinger was nominated for being too big of a sex symbol.share
