The majority of these films are older than me so I wouldn't be surprised if some on my list are considered controversial since I saw many of these long after they were originally released.

I like how the original Paramount Eight work as a whole with each installment interconnecting with the last (however loosely). Makes for a fun marathon that feels complete. Also a great way to witness the entire decade of the 1980's unfold before your eyes.

Jason Lives- A ridiculously fun film that I feel deserves the praise it gets. I never get tired of watching this film and love the meta humor. The endless energy here feels like the peak of the franchise, even though that was already past. I understand why people prefer the earlier classics but for me, Part VI is the funnest ride. Obvious reasons include Alice Cooper.

Part III- I find this entry growing on me. It's got a fun, youthful vibe to it that pulls you in from start to finish and only gets more menacing as it progresses. I even like the windy, open California-ized location with the cool cabin and barn. Camp Crystal Pond and the 3D cheese are two issues I find myself overlooking (forgiving?) more and more each time I watch.

The Final Chapter- I actually feel this entry is slightly overrated. The attention Part IV gets for its impressive effects, raised stakes and brutal atmosphere is rightfully well deserved. But I find the group of kids here one of worst ensembles with annoying characters, boring scenes and some terrible dialogue (even for Friday standards). Some of Harry Manfredini's best work though easily.

Original- Appreciate it for it's classic status, organic filmmaking, bleak atmosphere and its ability to stand on its own beyond the Jason sequels. But beyond that I find the film less rewatchable than many of its sequels which are more fast-paced, energized and more entertaining all around.

A New Beginning- Has a lot to enjoy and a lot of problems. I don't mind the non-Jason twist and appreciate the nonsensical characterizations and sleazy atmosphere. Some terribly cheap effects and occasionally really lazy storytelling but a lot of humor, fun characters and tense scenes to make up for it. Love the weirdness of the score.

Jason Takes Manhattan- Don't think its as bad as most do and consider it a fitting end to the Paramount saga (and my Friday cannon) that makes the 8-part series feel evolved and complete. Of course this film would benefit more from having more of it in NYC but the sequences it does have are iconic highlights and I've oddly always been a fan of the toxic sewer angle!

Part II- Unlike most I consider this overrated compared with other sequels. Ginny is a great final girl and the third act is exciting but in the meantime I find myself bored with a cast that there's far too many of. Also I prefer the hockey mask over the potato sack but enjoyed the aspect with Jason's shack. Not a bad sequel at all, but I think there's certainly improvement out there.

The New Blood- I feel lacks the style and wit of its predecessor and always found Jason on the cruise ship more interesting than Jason battling telekinesis, which is too out of place here. My least favorite cast, a bland setting and unfortunately far too over-censored. Still enjoy all eight Paramount films and their atmosphere but Part VII for me is the noticeable slump. Although the rise of Kane's Jason brings a lot personality to the late Paramount era.

Freddy Vs. Jason- Would have liked it to have been closer to the mythos of the original films.

Reboot- Not nearly as bad as the Nightmare attempt, but still little I found impressive.

Jason Goes to Hell- Embarrassing it even exists.

Jason X- It has its small cult crowd, but I'm definitely not apart of it.
