Ending scenes are just awful

I used to love it as kid. My mother never understood why. I've watched it recently as adult, wow, the movie is such crap, lol. I especially hated the ending scenes. They ask Kurt, Don't you want to kiss her? No, Kurt replies and walks away. The final scene they show Kurt talking on the CB radio, and it's revealed the monster ape tagged along on his truck.

I just don't get Carpenter trying to sell the trucker / lone wolf angle. I don't understand why the trucker couldn't get the girl and had to be an asshole about it. I'm glad Kurt will get butt raped the moment he gets out to take a piss, lol.

I don't mind Kurt not kissing the girl, but the monster ape ending was just baaad. Carpenter is master of ending movies, but this is one of his worst.

The ape thing was stupid as hell.

But the kiss reply? That was so out of nowhere, i loved it. He clearly shows interest in her the whole movie and when he can finally get her...he just says no and leaves. In a more serious movie, this would have been bad and illogical but it worked wonderfully here.

It was such a badass delivery, like the Han Solo "i know" line.

YOU DON'T SEEM TO "GET" THE MOVIE...KURT IS NOT THE HERO...HE IS THE COMIC RELIEF WHO BELIEVES HIMSELF THE HERO...WALKING AWAY FROM THE GIRL AT THE END IS EXACTLY WHAT THE HIS CHARACTER WOULD THINK WAS COOL...THE MONSTER AT THE END WAS JUST A FUN LITTLE TOUCH...PERHAPS SYMBOLIZING THAT OL' JACK BURTON HAS LEARNED NOTHING AND NOT GROWN AT ALL THROUGH HIS ADVENTURE.

He explained is logic. He seems like the kind of guy thats been in plenty of relationships to know they dont always work. Pretty valid of him to enjoy the brief "honeymoon" period of courtship and then hit the road.

This movie has always sucked. The only good thing about it was the Storms and Kim Cattral and the Asian chick looking hot.

You folks don’t seem to get it: Jack Burton is a parody of John Wayne, the great stoic actor. And NOBODY ass-raped John Wayne.

You’ve missed half the fun of the movie.
