I dont recall any other movie in which Demi looked so beautiful, yet readily accessible at the same time

Definitely. By the time she got to the 90's she was ruined with unneeded plastic surgery.

I thought Jim Belushi was the best part of this but she certainly was unbelievably awesome and I envied Rob Lowe

Belushi was great in this in the same way Diceman was in Casual Sex. Throwaway roles but they knocked them out of the park.
