Why did people watch this?
I didn't laugh ONCE.

I laughed a few times. A good fish out of water comedy.
It's that man again!!
this was funny but i don't think its one of the best 80s comedies like some say. Who Framed Roger Rabbit Stripes Blues brothers feriis bullers day off ghostbusters Caddyshack are a lot better some Eddie Murphy comedies were too. still its funny but a lot were much funnier.
Yoda Rules!
You don’t like punctuation, do you?
shareI saw it in the movies... back then movies weren't good or bad.
You just went to check them out
The internet has made everything and everyone so critical these days.
Not only so critical, but so horribly nitpicky. Too many people seem to see a movie solely for the purpose of finding some flaw in it, so that they can crow about it online.
shareFor Aussies it was a big deal at the time. Hogan was already a huge local TV star, some may say legend, and it was exciting to see him in this blockbuster comedy. It also showed off the beauty of the Northern Territory quite honestly, that was cool to see.
The jokes in both the Australian and American scenes are horribly dated now and there is a certain cringe with Australians being so closely associated with such a parochial character. There’s also a lot of affection for him. Rightly so too, he was a loveable rogue in his short time as a “big deal”.
This is a sweet and well made film. It was popular because the world was once a lot less cynical and critical place.
Says the asshole who deleted himself.
shareI assume people watch it because they enjoy it.
Your assumption that people can only enjoy something that you have enjoyed is erroneous.
