Carla had no redeeming qualities.

Sorry, but this entire movie fell flat for me because it made no sense that Louden would fall in love with that rude, cold, guarded, masculine, personality-less woman who clearly thought she was hot shit. Sure, he'd probably lust after her because he was 18 and she was physically attractive (until she opened her mouth) but LOVE her? Please. What is there to love? I kept hoping he'd treat her the same way she treated him! With complete & utter indifference. That would've snapped her fucking brain!

Can't really comment on the film as one hasn't seen it.

Of greater curiosity...

Whatever happened to Linda Fiorentino????

She reminds me so much of Bridget Fonda. Good young actress, nice run in the 1990s - disappeared in the 2000s.

Bridget showed up in 2022 - in pics that is. She still, to this day, hasn't done a thing (in Hollywood that is).

Linda - don't think I've seen a pic of her in 20 years. I wonder if she'll ever show up again??

Did you watch the film from the beginning? Carla was staying with the Swain family only until her car was repaired, then she was to be back on her way to San Francisco. She was only having a fling with Louden. But it is no surprise that 18 year old Louden could mistake lust for love.

The film was based on the book, their relationship dynamic was much different. The book starts with Carla and Louden in a stable long term relationship for the last year.
