Makes no sense: Why would he choose boring Boof over gorgeous Pamela?

Pamela was blonde, vivacious, gorgeous, and exciting.

Boof was the typical, boring, plain-Jane type.

No hetero guy would actually choose Boof if he could have a stunning, ultra-feminine beauty such as Pamela.

At least Pretty in Pink got this right, in having Molly Ringwald end up with the alpha male whom she was pursuing, rather than with the second-choice beta male "Ducky."

This movie should have ended the same way -- with Michael Fox getting the girl of his dreams, just as Molly Ringwald got the guy of her dreams.

It's rather demeaning to imply that an underappreciated guy should only aspire to his second choice of girl, while an underappreciated girl can win her first choice of guy.

he knew Boof would age better Pamela looked like she was in her early 30's sometimes they had history and he felt bad for cursing Boof to a lifetime of being a werewolf when he clawed her back in the closet creating his Alpha and Wolves are Matea for Life

Boof liked him for who he was. If he would have been me, I would have kept Pamela on the side, and made her howl once-in-a-while

But Pamela was a vile person.

She was dating the most popular guy, then when another guy was more popular she started screwing around with him. She'd had no interest in Scott until he became The Wolf, something she even said to his face at the start of the movie. When he became popular and cool, suddenly she was interested. She didn't even have the decency to leave her boyfriend for Scott, she was stringing them both along. She didn't see anything wrong with getting naked and throwing herself at Scott despite having another boyfriend.

She only ran to him at the end, because he'd won the basketball game. Whereas Boof had grown up with Scott, always been there for him. She didn't care about his popularity or 'fame', she cared about him.

Pamela had her looks, but that was literally all she had going for her. How could Scott trust a person like her?

Fox found Pamela's "Southern" accent a major turn-off

This was around the time his parent seperated.

That was the whole point.

Pamela may have been gorgeous, but she was a shallow, fickle, stuck-up jerk. Boof may have been plainer, but she was loyal, steadfast, decent and down-to-earth, and genuinely liked Scott.

The film, to its credit, and irrespective of all its other shortcomings, was preaching the extremely admirable message, that what's inside a person counts more than how a person looks.
