I have to agree with the others here: this scene is a riot!
Someone else mentioned the social satire aspect, that this MIGHT actually occur among a group of many doctors. That in itself is worth laughs, and I'm just laughing now thinking about it.
But there's a tension set up immediately. They start off with the Doctor, Doctor and you realize there's this LINE of doctors waiting and they're going to do it the entire way! That's an immediate giggle.
Then you have the interplay between Chevy Chase and Donna Dixon as he singles her out for special attention, and Dan Aykroyd's dumbfounded response.
THEN there's Aykroyd's rebuttal after the rest left the tent and he's slappying Chase for impersonating doctors.
THEN you have the Bob Hope sweeper cleanup!
There's a lot more going on in this scene than just a bunch of people saying "Doctor". Kudos to all who've chimed in! And kudos even to you, Vanzetti! Look at the thread you started! ;)
