Most Irritating Scene ever in a film

This film contains a scene that I think ranks as one of the most annoying and unfunny ever in the history of cinema. The one were CC and DA land in the medical corps camp and pretend to be doctors, and they meet all the other doctors in a tent and do a full round of introductions, along the lines of "doctor - doctor, doctor - doctor, doctor - doctor, doctor - doctor" etc - it seems to go on forever.

Ok Vanzetti, age 37, the doctor-scene is funnier than most scenes in any comedies starring 1990's-2000's Saturday Night alumni...

You said annoying and unfunny when in fact I think you meant to say great and hilarious. We all make mistakes.

"Put the bunny in the box!"

i laughed at that till i pissed.

I think that scene was the funniest in the whole movie. The movie was pretty bad overall though :( But the doctor doctor scene made the movie!

That scene reminds me of various Family Guy moments.

I have to agree with the others here: this scene is a riot!

Someone else mentioned the social satire aspect, that this MIGHT actually occur among a group of many doctors. That in itself is worth laughs, and I'm just laughing now thinking about it.

But there's a tension set up immediately. They start off with the Doctor, Doctor and you realize there's this LINE of doctors waiting and they're going to do it the entire way! That's an immediate giggle.

Then you have the interplay between Chevy Chase and Donna Dixon as he singles her out for special attention, and Dan Aykroyd's dumbfounded response.

THEN there's Aykroyd's rebuttal after the rest left the tent and he's slappying Chase for impersonating doctors.

THEN you have the Bob Hope sweeper cleanup!

There's a lot more going on in this scene than just a bunch of people saying "Doctor". Kudos to all who've chimed in! And kudos even to you, Vanzetti! Look at the thread you started! ;)

Ya know...the vast majority of the people I've met who've watched this movie (myself included) seem to think it's one of the most quotable scenes from the movie. It's intended to be a bit dragged out, which adds trifold to the humor.

If you didn't like this scene, then you probably hated the "Major--Major--Captain--Colonel--Corporal--Major--Major.....I think we've made a major breakthrough here" scene from M*A*S*H, which is just as hilarious.

Great movie, lots of replay value, love all the scenes.Anyone who complains bout anything in it are complete wankers.

The payoff is the line. "We're not doctors!"

I don't know how a person coulc fit the term "attention span" into a movie scene as such said, it doesn't require attention span, it requires patience if anything. Reguardless, it's a calssic scene in my part, and afterwards Dan Akroyd asks Chevy Chase, "...What happens when the REAL Brownbridge and Greenbridge come?" Ha, bridge, great. Then seeing Bob Hope jump in there, that just puts the icing on. Fantastic.

reply

It's too bad that Chevy Chase didn't make more films with great scenes like this one.

reply

well Vacation definitely had some great scenes. But after that, yea he didn't have much else.

It's a deal, it's a steal, it's the sale of the *beep* century.

The most irriating scene is not getting to see Vanessa Angel more naked.

Was I surprised when I realized that Terry Gilliam was one of the doctors.
