In the top three
Movies I've seen from the 80s. This movie is masterful and I'd say it ranks alongside Rashomon, Seven Samurai, Ikuru and Throne Of Blood. I don't see it praised as often though. I wonder why.

shareAgreed. I've actually only rated two 80s movies as perfect 10s--The Shining, and Ran.
Once Upon a Time in America is pretty close though, that would probably come in at #3 for me. Also a huge fan of Akira (1988).
And just to round out a top 5, let's throw Raging Bull in there as well.
Solid choices. I didn't mention my other favourite 80s films but I agree Raging Bull and The Shining are 10 star worthy. I recently gave The Dekalog by Kieślowski a 10/10, as well.
shareDekalog has been in my watch-list for years, but I've never gotten around to watching the full version of it. I have seen A Short Film About Love, which is a near-masterpiece in its own right and a Top 10 film of the 80s for me. I've also see A Short Film About Killing, which I initially considered to be brilliant, but something about it didn't hold up for me on a second viewing. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for it at the time, but my rating dropped from an initial 9/10 down to a 7/10. I should probably give it another go and see where it ultimately lands.
shareDekalog is amazing. Perfect ten all the away. I also loved Double Life of Veronique and Three Colors Trilogy, but those are 90’s….
