No Retreat, No Surrender remake

I Know some people will say some mean things about the idea to a remake for this film but what do you think about this. I still love this film but I think with a really great script, a producer, director and really great actors this could be a really great film to bring the Martial Arts genre back.

They could always do a remake (nothing stops them remaking everything else) but as much as I love this film they'd have to rewrite it a lot as the idea of Russian gangsters wanting to take over karate schools just wouldn't work and barely worked then... I think the original has a charm that lets you forgive some of it's faults and don't think a remake would work if they kept close to the original

It could have a similar theme, but not the story. The cold war has been over for a long time, so it's not relevant. I can't see it working at all.

Actually this film could benefit from a remake. It's very dated and didn't age very well. Typical 80s B-movie. I'd support a remake of this as long as they left most of the corny comic scenes out especially anything involving the Scott character.

Not everything needs to be remade. I think it's a product of its time. Certain films need to be enjoyed for what they are. We're at this odd point in commercial cinema where there seems to be this need to recreate every little piece of property for a new audience. I think the story for this film is somewhat derivative. What makes it work for me is unique to the time period and no filmmaker could improve on that.

I Also love the movie as Ive seen the movie easily over 50 times.
But i have to say i don't fancy a remake. I don't think there is a
actor out there that can play Scott. I feel that role was made for
Kent only.

The movie only works due to it's 80s charm.
A remake would either be a parody of itself, or a dark/gritty version. I don't think either way would work. If Will Smith's son is cast as Jason, I will refuse to watch another movie made post-2015.

As much as i love NRNS i have to say i wouldn't like to see a remake. I find remakes kill of the originals . Just look what happened to The Karate Kid .They killed off the movie that's just my personal opinion.

I'm going to make a separate thread for this, but this idea...

... listen to this interview. Kurt McKinney pitches an idea that would reunite him, JCVD, and maybe the rest of the cast (barring Scott - RIP). If only I knew anyone in the film industry... :(
