My Favorites of the franchise

Christmas is 1st
The 1st is 2nd
Vegas is 3
Europe is 4

The original is the best.

its just a flesh wound...

One of the greatest comedies ever. The rest were varying levels of crap.

Just like Trump's ear. 👂🏻🤣

1) Original
2) Christmas
3) European
4) Vegas

That said I love to watch European a lot and I visit it frequently. The first one is my favorite movie of all time. It came out when I was a fun loving kid.

The 1st will always be the best because without the 1st, we wouldn't have seen the other sequels, but duly noted.. It's good and I thought it was funny how they acknowledged how Rusty looked different with each movie.. LOL

reply

I like the 1st one, its just hard to rank the first 2 because they are so good.

if Vacation is a 10, then European is a 10.1 for me.

reply

I don't know if it's the best, but how someone can think it's in the same ballpark or even worse than Vegas Vacation is beyond me.

reply

This was the funniest of the Vacation movies.

reply

agreed, it had so many great one liners.

This movie is awesome UNTIL the whole kidnapping thing goes down, at which point the remainder of the movie takes a giant and unfortunate shit. I cringe every time I watch the movie at how bad the final 1/4 is compared to the first 3/4. It's like John Hughes didn't know how to end the movie so he just ventured into the absurd (and unfunny). The original 1982 Vacation also shits the bed and suffers the same fate after the family arrives at Wally World only to find it closed. Everything after that point sucks.

I thought the John candy bits were great in the original

reply

I’ll admit that after the family arrives at Wally World it gets less good, but there were at least some funny moments, and at least it had John Candy. I wouldn’t say it “sucked” but yes it was less funny than what came before it.

it's a very important film. it is straight from the middle of the 80s. it was funny and sexy. growing up it was a perfect comedy. i know a few people who have put it down. i think opinions can change and in the right mood this film can still entertain.
