Worst movie ever

This movie seems like it's made by a bunch of unexperienced 15-year olds. The plot is stupid and nonlinear and it feels like they just built it up scene by scene, instead of coming up with a certain plot beforehand. One example is the hot usherette, that tall girl with the long curly hair. At first, I got the impression that she was a part of the plot, but they just killed her off, as if she was one of the guests, completely unaware of what was to come. And then the ending... Obviously they weren't creative enough to figure out a way for the main characters to get out of the cinema, so they sent a chopper from the sky. And then the bad guy got killed with no effort, and you had to guess what his intentions were. But considering he was stalking Cheryl at the beginning of the movie, it's quite obvious that she was meant to be the only survivor. And when Cheryl suddenly turned into a demon, this was another pathetic attempt at being original and shocking. I mean, wasn't she supposed to make it? Wasn't that what the guy with the metal mask wanted? That's the movie in a nutshell, everything is just a contradiction. And then they turned the whole city into a demon-infested hell-hole, which contradicts the "haunted cinema" theme.

And on top of all this, the soundtrack was just horrendous. Why would you play early Depeche Mode-ish synthpop in a scene where a girl is being chased? And why would you play Motley Crue in a scene where ppl are being chased by demons? These guys obviously doesn't know how to create a mood, and the bad soundtrack treatment erased any potential horror value, which was low as it was. It was just mindlessly gory.

I wouldn't call it the worst movie ever, and I can see why others like it, but it did nothing at all for me.

Started off well, in the U-Bahn, and Tony the Pimp was good, but after that I just lost interest.

I like "so bad it's good" films (Bad Taste); cheap films (Living Dead at Manchester Morgue); flimsy plots (Suspiria); and 80s camp (Night of the Comet) but this one just left me bored.

(I'm a new fan of Dario Argento and Mario Bava so I was expecting much more style.)

I think it was the music that killed it for me - it left the film with zero atmosphere.

This movie totally kicks major ass. I remember renting it when I was like 5 years old (yes I've always been a horror hound) and absolutely loved it then and I love it just as much now. Demons is a cult classic and is a well-made movie for its time.

Suspiria isn't a so bad it's good film, that movie is a masterpiece of horror cinema
.

Demons is awesome. It's good, dumb, bloody, scary fun. It beats the hell ouuta crap like the original Dawn of the Dead which is a complete insomnia-curing bore.

reply

Not quite on the spot with Dawn Of The Dead there.Yes it was long, but it was the characters, the location, and pending atmosphere of dread that keeps one into it,even when there's no action.Unless you expext your zombie films to be constant zombie action the whole picture.

So, An angry post like this,
and after a year and a half no answer,
total Troll post, I mean, at first I was curious about the answers everyone else gave, some people agree, some people say this movie is awesome,
I think is awesome, and not "so bad is good" awesome but just awesome, the OP must be under 18 years old or not know too much about horror movies, This is exactly how horror movies were in the 80's and 70's, but like i said, not posts afterward, sounds like a troll to me.

Troll, now that is a freaking horrible movie

Hahah! You totally didn't "get it" this is great! I've got to send this to Dario Argento - oh wait you probably don't know who that is ... THANKS you made my day! Still laughing!!!

Well, you have your opinion but I disagree. What makes it so fun is the fact that logic is thrown out entirely. Bava and Argento wanted to create a flick that was simply fun and nothing more. Also, admittedly, Italian Horror Cinema is not for everyone. Acting is usually not important but atmosphere and the way the camera pans around is. Some people just don't get it. I love it.

I'm just a guy that likes horror flicks.

Apart from the weak plot and acting, what ruins this film for me (and most of Argento's films) is the soundtrack band, Goblin. Their music doesn't age well at all and completely ruins the mood.

I've seen this film maybe 10 times and every time i never seem to remember the hello-copter scene but damn is that sword/bike scene ever cool. Love the 80's metal, love the acting, love the gore.

Great 80's horror.

Having someone on IMDB say something is the 'worst ever' is even more cliche than Michael Bay remaking some awesome horror title into a giant piece of crap. Demons is the worst movie ever? Really? I think not.
