ok so warner brotha has announced that their optioning a script for a new thundercats movie!
here are the details
Warner Bros. Pictures has optioned a script by Paul Sopocy to turn the popular 1983 animated series "Thundercats" into a live action feature reports Variety.
The original series story revolves around a group of humanoid cats who must flee their planet of Thundera after it's destroyed. Once crash-landing on another planet, Third Earth, they must thwart Mumm-Ra, an evil sorcerer, bent on killing them off.
Sopocy's script is described as an origin story expanding on the major heroes and villains from the animated series, with the plot focusing on Lion-O coming of age as the leader of the Thundercats.
The news comes just weeks after it was announced the studio was also finally moving ahead with a live-action adaptation of other 80's cartoon smash "He-Man".
im not to sure about the thundercats but i was watching the Mummy the other week and i think Arnold Vosloo for the role of Mumm-Ra could be cool something about arnold during that mummy film i think would fit him perfectly for Mumm - Ra.
Lion-O - Brad Pitt, Cheetara - Kate Beckinsale, make it her first voice acting, Tygra - Scott Speedman, Panthro - Michael Clarke Duncan, Wilykat - Alexander Ludwig, Wilykit - AnnaSophia Robb, Snarf - Tony Hale, Jaga - Christopher Lee, Ben-Gali - Michael Sheen, Pumyra - Jessica Biel, Lynx-O - Terence Stamp, -- Villians:
Mumm-Ra - Frank Langella, Slythe - Danny Devito, based on his performance from Batman Returns, Jackalman - Andy Serkis Monkian - Vin Diesel, Vultureman - Steve Buscemi,
Lion-O: Elijah Wood Tygra: David Boreanaz Cheetara: Amy Acker Panthro: Ving Rhames WilyKat: Alexander Ludwig WilyKit: Ellen Page Jaga: Ian McKellen Snarf: he'll be CGI so voice of Frank Langella maybe
Slithe: Brad Dourif Jackalman: Andy Serkis Monkian: Cillian Murphy Mumm-Ra: Arnold Vosloo
-------------- Begin message -------------------- Lion-O: Elijah Wood Tygra: David Boreanaz Cheetara: Amy Acker Panthro: Ving Rhames WilyKat: Alexander Ludwig WilyKit: Ellen Page Jaga: Ian McKellen Snarf: he'll be CGI so voice of Frank Langella maybe
Slithe: Brad Dourif Jackalman: Andy Serkis Monkian: Cillian Murphy Mumm-Ra: Arnold Vosloo -------------- End message ------------------------
I will go with some of your choses, I love Elijah Wood! Except for Snarf, I think Serkis should do both Snarf and Jackalman, and what about Kate Beckinsale as Cheetara huh? and since the film would be in CGI, it would be her first voice acting. And the perfect fit for Mum-Ra, due to his voice & dialect, Hugo Weaving -- *nya* *purr*
Lion-O: Dwayne Johnson Tygra : Matthew McConaughey Panthro: Michael Jai White; Michael Clarke Duncan; Ving Rhames Cheetara: Piper Perabo; Kate Hudson; Jessica Alba; Anjalina Jolie; Carla Gugino Wiley Kat: Jake T. Austin; Moises Arias Wiley Kit: Madison Pettis; Abigail Breslin Snarf: (This has got to be some awesome CGI) Jaga: Malcolm McDowell; Pumyra: Megan Fox; Rachel Weisz Ben-Gali: Sean Patrick Flanery ; Brendan Fraser Lynx-O: James Gandolfini
Mumm Ra: Willem Dafoe Slythe: Jason Alexander; Danny Devito Jackalman: John Leguizamo Monkian: Don Cheadle Vultureman: Michael Imperioli
Being a coming of age story I think they should go with a younger, lesser known actor for Lion-O, (if there were to be a live action film) maybe have them face off against Mum-ra, while having to pass the trial where he has to beat his team mates to prove he can be the leader to chronicle his rushed journey from child to adult
