ok so warner brotha has announced that their optioning a script for a new thundercats movie!
here are the details
Warner Bros. Pictures has optioned a script by Paul Sopocy to turn the popular 1983 animated series "Thundercats" into a live action feature reports Variety.
The original series story revolves around a group of humanoid cats who must flee their planet of Thundera after it's destroyed. Once crash-landing on another planet, Third Earth, they must thwart Mumm-Ra, an evil sorcerer, bent on killing them off.
Sopocy's script is described as an origin story expanding on the major heroes and villains from the animated series, with the plot focusing on Lion-O coming of age as the leader of the Thundercats.
The news comes just weeks after it was announced the studio was also finally moving ahead with a live-action adaptation of other 80's cartoon smash "He-Man".
It definetly should not be CGI-they fu***d up The incredible Hulk doin that. And what is Universal doing now? Its remaking it live action which means REAL people & Hulk which it should have been done the first time.

There have been a couple of good pics out of all those. You guys are breaking so many rules. Quit picking the biggest names out there for starters. And some of you pick big named actors who are already well known comic or cartoon characters in recent films. This is a big no no 98% of the time. Come up with original casting. Look at each character & really look and think who could fit the role.
Here are my picks....
Lion-O...Ryan Reynolds or Scott Speedman, pretty tall men (around 6'3") very lean and ripped and both have dark features that would go well. Tygra- Possibly Guy Pearce or Josh Lucas or someone else...Not too sure yet. Cheetara- This woman is a lock....Look here up, she looks the part all the way! Jolene Blaylock Panthro- This guy looks good too....He would make a very solid Panthro...Kevin Grevioux. Also maybe Djimon Hounsou. Jaga- Christopher Lee would make a good Jaga. As far as bad guys...The perfect fit for Mum-Ra, due to his voice & dialect, Hugo Weaving..Agent Smith from Matrix & V from V for Vendetta. His dialect is amazing in V & Mum-Ra sort of has that same tone & dialect. I think a great fit for Monkian would be Ron Pearlman. Jackalman.....? Maybe Garrett Hedlund. Vultureman....? Needs to be someone a little older & intelligent, but still in good shape...Vultureman was the inventor for the bad guys. Jason Issacs would be a good try. Slithe (the frog) needs to be someone short & stocky...Possibly Vin Diesel? haha. Another suggestion would be to make Snarf a puppet or whatnot & have someone do a voiceover, someone real animated. Of course try to get the original voice of Snarf, but he is deceased, so maybe Jack Black (who has an amazing vocal range), or possibly Robin Williams. haha just a thought.
This is just my opinion and all....
I really want to see this made into a live action movie!!!! Make it happen Warner Bros!!!
I was reading all your posts and your choices are good for the characters in this upcoming movie. I am just thrill to hear they are going to do it. For all who grew up in the 80's, THE 80's RULES.
Lion-O : Josh Lucas/Hugh Jackman Panthro: Michael Clarke Duncan Tygro: Paul Walker/Shane West Sheetara: Kristanna Loken/Claire Danes/Peta Wilson Snarf: Andy Serkis Wilykat: Liam Aiken Wilykit: Dakota Fanning Jaga: Christopher Lee Lynx-O: Christopher Plummer ----------------------------------- Mumm-Ra: Christopher Walken/Richard O' Brien Jackalman: Chris Rock Monkian: Ving Rhames Vultureman: Crispin Glover Slythe: Lawrence Fishbourne
lion-o Clive Owen panthro LL Cool J/Christopher Judge from stargate mummra Djimon Hounsou cheetara Any hot blonde chick jaga Sean Connery/Patrick Stewart tygra Jet Li
LION-O - Shia LaBeouf Panthro - Ving Rhames Tygra - Hugh Jackman Cheetra - Jessica Biel Jaga - Ian McKellen Snarf - ??? I think it will be animated and use the same voice Wileycat - /Wileykit - Dylan and Cole Sprouse Mumrah - John Hurt for the mummy part and when he changes it should be someone bigger
this is my line-up for the movie if i were to cast the actors in the film
lion-o- he is young and so someone like brandon routh, of whom has the physical build for lion-o
tygra- either hugh jackman or aaron eckhart- those two look more like tigra than any other actor that i can think of. another person suggested ioan gruffudd (fantastic four)
cheetara- she looks mature and sounds mature in the cartoons, any of these actresses would do: charlize theron, rebecca romijin, kristina loken (Terminator 3)
panthro- the so called black thundercat- appearance wise he bears more of a resemblance to ving rhames facially that is. others have suggested michael clarke duncan and kevin gervious, but for me i'd opt for terry crews (everybody loves chris). he's got the build, the frame and his face reminds me of panthro anyhow. i think he can pull it off
wily kit and wily kat- okay, there are not that many child actors of whom we are familiar of, but names in the frame for these two are dakota fanning as wily kit, jonathan lipnicki or vincent martella (everybody hates chris) as wily kat. someone else suggested shia la labeouf, which is a good choice as well
jaga- sir sean connery
lynx-o- either patrick stewart, sir ian mckellan or terrence stamp
snarf- CGI, get some guy who can do the voice for snarf
I think this is the best list so far. This was one of my favorite cartoons growing up so I really don't want it screwed up. I loved the Transformers movie but I think they could have totally messed it up if the casting had been different. It's amazing how one voice can change the whole movie.
As far as casting the Thunderkittens... I remember that they were actually older than Lion-O who was a child when he was put into stasis. His body aged but his mind was still childlike. So we'd need an actor who could portray that aspect of Lion-O's personality.
lol And I think Snarf being CGI is the best idea. And use the same voice as the cartoon.
Jesus Christ people, the movie isnt gonna be released for two years.... all the actors and actresses you are naming could die in that time or get fat or disfigured. j/k :P
Anyway i think this movie should have mostly no names. and the only character that should be truely famous should be Mum-Ra. So a good short skinny actor for Mum-Ra and big beefy version for the Ever-living
