Yeah, along with the rousing opening theme, it was a great hook. What kid could resist it?

You're right. TC will forever be one of the best. Other intros just has catchy toons. TC has both

Yes, the opening credits stands out amongst the 80s as one of the most awesome. Great animation and great music.

This and the one from Silverhawks are great examples of high quality animations. Sadly we will never see anything like that anymore.

Honorary mention: the opening for the Mega Man Ruby-Spears series. Loved how energetic and dramatic was compared to the actual series.

As I recall, Thundercats was very popular with my peers at school in the UK in the mid-'80s. But that intro really is all kinds of awesome, so perfectly directed and scored. A landmark of animation.

The part where Mumra transforms in the intro is cool as hell.

no doubt it was a masterpiece, it just had the right theme, great animation, the speed and overall just the buzz to make you want to get involved - sort of how the eye of the tiger and rocky just made a great combination.

The opening was awesome but the animation in the rest of the show pLed by comparison. I presume it would have been prohibitively costly and possibly too time consuming to have have animated the whole show to the standard set in the opening.
