Are you feeling this right now?
Just wondering. What say you?
shareYes Red Dawn is wonderful.
1) Always good to hate on the commies
2) The protagonists do things like kill relatively defenseless people
3) Many main characters die
Good stuff
John Milius is a genuis. Way too masculine for todays Hollywood. He made manly films.

It's been a while since I have seen the films. Tell me about this.
Like ambushing some sightseeing commies with bird shot and arrows. Then when a young wounded one tried to call for help they blasted him with an old style single action revolver.

Absolutely great film here. š
I don't consider part of an invading force as relatively defenseless people, but I see your point.
shareādefenseless peopleā
I was poking fun at this comment. The Russians were much better armed and had seen combat or at the least had formal training.
In the two scenes I am talking about, the person killed was absolutely ādefenselessā at the moment they were killedā¦.that doesnāt mean they hadnāt put themselves in a position where they deserved itā¦just that they were no longer a direct threat.
The two scenes I am talking about are : 1) the scene you mentioned where they fought the three sightseeing soldiersā¦.once they were defeated, the one was injured, unarmed and slumped over in that vehicleā¦.Swayze just walked over and shot him in the head.
2) the scene where C. Thomas Howell executed their friend who had betrayed their locationā¦he was unarmed, handcuffed and could have been just sent away/exiled from the groupā¦but no he was killed.
And Iām not saying that these deaths werenāt warrantedā¦my original point was that movies today, especially ones marketed to teens and young adults like this, wouldnāt have dark, realistic scenes like thatā¦.and thatās what makes Red Dawn still great.
Ah, I could not tell if your posting was sarcasm or not. But yes, agree with you wholeheartedly about scenes like these making Red Dawn a great film.
shareI just saw this movie for the first time in my entire life, and I was just blown away by how dark it was. I saw the remake the day before, and wow, it's like night and day. The remake just felt like an action movie. The original actually got into the horror of war.
