Worst special effects ever seen in a big-budget production
It has my vote. What say you?
And yet, nothing of value was lost. Goes to show that storylines are more important than special effects.

It was 1984. What were you expecting? Plus, that 2000 miniseries wasn't much better, despite the CGI effects.
It was the story and the acting that was better done in this film.
The crappiest ones were the space harvester and the vehicles going into it.
