What other movie would make a great double-bill with this one?

W.D. Richter was involved with both films, and I've always had a tendency to think of them as a natural pairing - so I'd say: good call!

Oddly enough, there was the mistaken thought (it was even in the trivia section of IMDB's "Big Trouble in Little China" page) that W.D. Richter had originally written the script for "Big Trouble..." as the sequel for Buckaroo Banzai, "Buckaroo Banzai versus the World Crime League." It was believed that the character of Lo Pan from "Big Trouble..." was a renamed Hanoi Xan (the person responsible for Buckaroo's parent's death), and the action in the original script would have had Buckaroo going after his nemesis Hanoi Xan.

It turns out that none of that was true... but further cements the quirky style that seems to permeate both films.
