Is 2010: The Year We Make Contact the most forgotten good sequel of all time??

I'm not trying to claim 2010 was anywhere near as good as the original but I think it's objectively a "good" sequel. Has any other all time great movie had a good Sequel that was as forgotten as 2010? Perhaps Robocop 2 but I see video's from Red Letter Media and other big channels giving Robocop 2 it's props. I never see anyone talk about 2010 and If I wasn't old enough to remember it being released I'd easily not even know it exists.

yes, re-watched last year. it is a very good movie.

I prefer it to 2001. But then I've never been a big fan of Kubrick.

Yeah, its a mystery to me that 2010 hasn't got a special edition and UHD 4K treatment, like 2001.

It's a fine film.

It does give some scientific answers to what happened at the end of 2001. That might have disappointed some people who had a more metaphysical interpretation.

It's very underwhelming and a gigantic fall from the grand majestic thematically rich original.
