Disagree.
The reason is that the historical context isnt there. When Wargames came out, computers had been mostly restricted to government departments, universities and computer hobbyists. The Internet was in its early infancy, and with that virus did not represent a significant threat. It was only five years later when the Morris Worm was unleashed in 1988 and was able to take down an estimated 10% of the internet and make international news, that the security of computer networks became a serious topic.
While you are right in saying that technology has come a long way since 1983, security has made massive leaps and bounds too, especially with encryption technologies being developed to combat spying from foreign governments. Because of this, the story of a teenager accidentally breaking into a military network doesn't seem believable in the 2010's.
