i don't know about Cronenberg but this movie i thought was just bad 4/10

i was enjoying it in the first 15 minutes or so, but when it went to the supernatural stuff the quality went down

CG gore is the worst thing that has ever happened to the horror genre.

Cronenberg is an amazing filmmaker, one of my favorites. I actually think Videodrome is his best film along with other good films like The Dead Zone and The Fly. As another poster said, Cronenberg's films have always have surreal scenes that relate to the story, he's a fantastic visual storyteller. I looked at your ratings, it looks like Richard Kelly is one of your favorite filmmakers, I never liked Kelly, I have given all of his films fair shakes but I think he is a poor storyteller and his films come off as nonsensical. I'm curious why do you think Kelly is a great filmmaker but Cronenberg isn't? Why do you think Videodrome is trash but The Box is a masterpiece (A film I didn't like)? These questions are not sarcastic or anything, I am genuinely curious, I like hearing different opinions then mine.

Once again someone in the film fan world doesn't understand the concept of subjectivity.

You don't like it? That's fine, but don't rage on a message board as if everything YOU say is a universal absolute.

I and many, MANY others find Cronenberg a fascinating film maker so I guess "David Cronenberg sucks" is a bit of a mistaken thing to say.

Try adding "In my opinion..." before spouting next time.

Are you kidding me? All of Cronenberg's films have an underlying message to them.

The Brood? Child abuse and Divorce can destroy a person's chance for living a happy life.

Videodrome? Society is getting more and more violent and the media's constant streaming of those violent images is fueling the fire and desensitizing us until violence is normal.

The Fly? Technology and Science are great until they go bad and cause irreversible damage to human lives.

eXistenZ? Society is obsessed with video games and they are becoming so extravagant and realistic that people are wasting away in front of them because they'd rather be in an alternate reality than humdrum real life.

There's more but I don't want to keep going. Hahahah

Cronenberg is AWESOME and his movies are meaningful and smart. I'm sorry you don't like them, but I love them all! He's a really insightful guy and his movies are always good.
