What if Luke did not throw his lightsaber.

Instead what if he turned and faced Sidious with his lightsaber in hand. Would Sidious still try to hit him with force lightning? And would luke had been able to stop him if he kept his lightsaber on hand?

Isn't that how Sidious killed Mace Windu? Maybe that scene was inspired by this one.

What? No, windu deflected it back on sidious. Windu died because anakin cut his hand off and his lightsaber and hand flew out the window

No mistake, I mean, maybe Sidious still could of overpowered Windu. Huge fan debate on it Sidious was holding back just to get Anakin to turn. Kind of part of my question is do fans thing Sidious could overpower a someone deflecting his lighting with a lighsaber.

Did George Lucas already decide that a lightsaber can actually block force lightning? You know, at the time when this movie was written and made?

Honestly I do not know...I would guess yes, because the Novel for the movie was released before the prequels and in the novel. Luke actually deflects some of it back with the Force..Now once Sidious starts increasing it then it is too much for Luke...So maybe, but not 100% sure.

Well if he hadn't of tossed his lightsaber and Palpatine used his lightening, Luke would've been able to deflect the lightening bolts
