Was the Emperor originally an alien?

The Prequels reveal the Emperor is just a scarred old man, but was he originally intended to be an alien when the original trilogy was first produced, given his ghoulish, almost-reptilian-like features.

reply

Possibly. If you take in to account his original appearance in Empire strikes back, his face still seems to scarred, but his eyes extend off his face in a way that doesn’t seem human.

reply

No he is human. Watch episode 1, because in that one, he is an up and coming politician and very much a human being. The scarring, ghoulish features is the fall out from the dark side corrupting him

Someone didn’t read past the topic title.

reply

Yea its annoying and reflects laziness when one skims thru posts too quickly. People need to read the entire posts including title before responding. I tried to answer him as best I could

reply

Your answer wasn't even relevant to his question. Your reply is simply a rewording of the first thing the OP wrote.

reply

Yes, I read the title of the topic and wrote a response. I failed to read what the OP wrote in his post. I see now what you mean. I need to do better

reply

Sorry, I think I misread your post, the one that I replied to before. I thought you were still missing the point then. Not used to people admitting to mistakes on the internet.

reply

Hes not human. We are the only " humans" everything else in fiction from another planet is " human like"

reply

Huh? There are many humans in the Star Wars universe and Palpatine was one of them in episode 1

reply

I don't think he was ever conceived as an alien. Interestingly though, it appears he was never intended as one of the key figures he became:-

Aided and abetted by restless, power-hungry individuals within the government, and the massive organs of commerce, the ambitious Senator Palpatine caused himself to be elected President of the Republic. He promised to reunite the disaffected among the people and to restore the remembered glory of the Republic. Once secure in office he declared himself Emperor, shutting himself away from the populace. Soon he was controlled by the very assistants and boot-lickers he had appointed to high office, and the cries of the people for justice did not reach his ears.

Up to this point, it pretty much matches the prequels tbh. The Clone Wars were what causes the dissaffectation, the Trade Federation was the organs of commerce.
