COUGAR or PEDO?

I'm not criticizing the relationship, just the fact that if Ellen was a man and Jonathan a girl, the relationship would be regarded as "sick" and that is sexual bias.
Personally, I believe the relationship is fine because Jonathan is an older teenager, not a little kid. People need to know the difference. Sure, the relationship may not be ideal, but the only harm that came out of it was the fact Ellen lied about being single. Jonathan wasn't emotionally scarred by her "rape", far from it, he had a hot time.

It would be fair for her to assume he is 21 at least as that is the legal drinking age in America and they first met in a bar. She seemed comfortable until she saw his college ID badge, was it because it implies he is in his late teens or because it's her son's school?

Later on it doesn't matter as she contacts him again and wants to keep seeing him.

I don't think he was vulnerable or naive about what was happening to him. I would say she was a Cougar but then did she just like him because she was also vulnerable or was it his age in particular?

It was unclear whether Jonathan had reached the age of 18 (in the first semester of his senior year in HS, most likely 17). His ID indicated he was born I 1964, but I'm not sure in which year the action is meant to occur. If he was under 18, Skip's mom could have been criminally liable.

Jonathan also lied to her about his age, saying he was studying at college. That was why she broke it off.
