Please let me know of some others. What are your favourite children shows of the generation?
I think you're thinking of "The Christmas Toy." It was a Jim Henson movie with muppet-esque toys. Kermit was featured as Santa Clause. I haven't seen it in years, but I have it on VHS.
I got into Fraggle Rock when I was in college. That's right -- college.
I was too old when FR was first released to dive right in; I was thirteen, and everybody knows that when you're thirteen, such things as Fraggle Rock are "lame." (Yes, I was a very foolish teenager.) Then, when I was an undergrad, TNT picked up the show and I was glued to every episode. Kind of funny how we love things as kids, reject them as teens, and then fall in love with them again (or, in my case, for the first time) as adults.
So these aren't necessarily my favorite kids' shows I watched when I was a kid; they are simply my favorite kids' shows, then and now.
The Muppet Show (then and now) Fraggle Rock (now) The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show (and all shows airing classic WB cartoons) (then and now) Animaniacs (now) Freak-a-Zoid (now) Darkwing Duck (now) Jim Henson's The Frog Prince (then and now) Jim Henson's Storyteller (now) Justice League (now) Sesame Street (then) The Electric Company (then, though I confess to loving those new DVDs)
what can I say but being a kid in the 80's was the best - we really had the best shows/cartoons ever. (no i'm not biast, hehe but seriously we did) my fav's:
Fraggle Rock (I am a fraggle for life!) Muppets Muppet babies He-man / She-ra JEM! (she was truly outrageous...) I wanted to be JEM.
Smurfs (Is it true Gargamel created Smurfette to create more smurfs? I always thought the smurfs were her brothers? gross! who did she do the deed with? surely not Papa smurf?) - I loved Azrael the cat too.
The Snorks Inspector Gadget (I wanted Penny's watch) Danger Mouse Scooby Doo Sesame Street Ducktales Darkwing Duck Denver the last dinosaur Carebears Voltron Transformers Alvin & The Chipmunks
