Is this movie as good as you remember it?

I saw this movie when I was a kid and loved it!
I want to get it only blu-ray, but I'm afraid if I buy it and watch it that I will not enjoy the movie as much as I when I was a child.

Has anyone recently watched it again after a long period of time and loved it just as much as the first time?

I just watched it for the first time in a very long time and yes...it's just as good :)

Is this movie as good as I remember it? No, it's better. Watching it as a kid, I did't really comprehend much of what I was seeing, only that I liked it. Plot, storyline, and messages in movies don't really register to kids, they tend to just like the visual aspects. Years later, when I watched it again, I was blown away. I mean, yeah, the animation isn't all that good (but I blame that on when it was created) and the dialogue was kind of dull, but the story itself was truly beautiful. I'm really hoping for a live-action remake.

I'm guessing you bought it. I'm hoping you did. I recently re-watched it again and it's as good as you remembered it. I've seen it a couple of times with only one viewing where I thought I didn't enjoy it as much. This happens. Examples, it happened when I saw Shawshank Redemption, The Witches and even Suits the TV show.

So overall, still a good film.

It is for me, makes me worry what Hollywood would do if they made it into a live action film.

I was 9 or 10 when it came out in the theater and almost my whole extended family all went to it, I think we had around 30 to 40 of us all there. I remember it being weird, I guess because Disney movies were kind of the norm back then, and this one just had a different feel / vibe to it. I remember liking it enough to want to watch it again and I think I did a few times on VHS in the 80's but I have not seen it since. I really should watch it again as I will maybe appreciate it more so now. I always thought the Secret of Nimh and the Dark Crystal were weird movies as well and I like them more now then I did back then.

Even better. I loved it then, I love it now. I can appreciate the characters more as an adult, the complexities of the relationships. Mommy Fortuna for example and her desire for immortality through the Harpies memories.

Yes! Just watched it today. I love it, it still holds up after all these years. Easily one of my favorite movies of all time.
