I saw this movie when I was a kid and loved it! I want to get it only blu-ray, but I'm afraid if I buy it and watch it that I will not enjoy the movie as much as I when I was a child.
Has anyone recently watched it again after a long period of time and loved it just as much as the first time?
"I came across time for you Sarah. I love you. I always have."
The film itself is very good. The soundtrack is perfection, literally. I love film soundtracks, and this one is in the Top 3!
The only flaw is the CENSORING of it now! I HATE THAT! It nearly ruins several perfectly good (and NON-offensive) scenes! Shame on the production company (or whoever authorized it) to go along with those despicable parents. Um, so it has some light profanity & very mild violence. SO WHAT?! Just because its animated, doesn't mean its for young kids!
"I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus." "Didn't he discover America?" "Penfold, shush."
I don't think the art looks dated at all, in this or in the Rankin Bass Hobbit cartoon. The animation is fantastic, because each frame is given the care usually reserved for an illustration. The anatomy and gestures are given great care, each frame is a drawing I could hang on my wall. The strange forms and shapes have a timeless quality to them. I love how they draw hands most of all.
Strange to think these same animators went on to form Studio Ghibli.
yeah, saw this in theater with my grandma when 7, loved it, still do. beautiful animation and those songs, god those beautiful songs great movie uncut, thank you!
