Why didn't Gary want Rose?

To me she was the hottest girl in the movie, and she obviously wanted Gary, she had a cute voice, beautiful eyes, great lips, and she looked smoking hot in that bikini. I don't get why Gary acted so annoyed and disinterested in her, i mean he was fine getting it on with that fat chick in the glasses at the beginning but he doesn't want Rose?

I get you liked Karen but she was with someone else, and this other hot girl really wants you, wake the fuck up dude. Rose to me was hotter than Karen anyways.

I honestly think that Rose was supposed to be unattractively geeky. I don't recall thinking she was hot when I first saw this film when it came out, but I do now.

They definitely tried to make her seem kinda geeky with the glasses and hair, but to me the actress was too beautiful to really pull that off, so it just seemed odd in the movie when Gary is always annoyed and disinterested whenever shes around him. I could totally understand his attitude towards her if it was the fat girl in the glasses at the beginning in her role, but this girl was hot so it just seemed a bit odd him not wanting anything to do with her.

And the scene at the pool when shes in the bikini and ask him to put sunblock on her back and he acted all annoyed by it and not really into it i wanted to smack him and tell him to wake the fuck up and look at this hot girl thats wanting you to rub lotion on her. Gary was a fucking idiot.

I guess they had the wrong actress, but I'm not really sure what they were after with her. She was clearly a hot girl if we must objectify her (we must, we must!). There was no subplot where Gary should have been with Rose because she was the right person for him (she was a bit "off" after all), the story was a life lesson about trying to first get and then keep a crush that just wasn't into you.

Rose was cute as hell, and I certainly would have gone for her. She seemed fun. But Gary was too smitten/obsessed with Karen to really even notice her. He wasn't like Rick, who would have easily moved on to another girl just for fun. I don't agree with Rose being hotter than Karen. Diane Franklin was an out of this world beauty, and I could completely see how Gary was single minded in his affection.

Because it's a movie... that was the whole point. Rose was played by an actress with a different name, and 'Rose' has to play pretend. She pretended to like 'Gary' in the movie and 'Gary' had to pretend not to be interested in her and instead pretend to be infatuated with 'Karen'.

Lol I'm just bein' a douche, but ye that's pretty much what it boils down to. ayo.
