Fans DEMAND a REMAKE

It's time to update Fast Times at Ridgemont High, it's just gotten too old and just sin't holding up in today's marketplace. A remake will re-do the movie to make it better for the 2000's.

Cast:
Jeff Spicoli: Ashton Kutcher
Stacey: Lindsay Lohan
Linda: Megan Fox
Brad: Jason Segel
Mike Damone: Ben Affleck
Rat: Shia leBouf
Mr. Hand: Richard Dreyfuss
Jefferson: Terry Crews
Mr. Vargas: Michael Richards

This is a well-balanced star studded cast with a blend of nice young and old characters. The fans are demanding a remake so hopefully the studious will finally listen and get this made.

I concur that "Fast Times..." does not hold up today. That is the nature of movies that revolve around the pop culture of the day. The music choices are hit and miss. The fashions are ridiculous. And the references... Pat Benatar? Blue Oyster Cult? Really? ...are so dated as to be almost incomprehensible to anybody under the age of 45. Having said that, you can't possibly think the success of the original could be repeated... not as art... not as comedy... and almost certainly not financially. They caught lightning in a bottle with the original. They found a ridiculously-talented but still unknown cast who turned an occasionally inspired and occasionally lame script into genuine gold. That will never happen again.

Regarding your ideas for the cast, the producers of the original managed to find a cast of "high schoolers" who were actually in their teens. I don't think one of your proposed "students" is under the age of 28, and most of them haven't aged particularly well at that (Lindsay Lohan, for example, looks like she's 50 and sounds like she is 70). Sheesh, Ben Affleck is not much younger than Sean Penn is today so, if you are going with Affleck, you might just as well let Penn reprise his role as Spicoli, too, because there is no way Kutcher is topping what Penn did as Spicoli.

Those actors all seem to resemble the original characters but remember this is about a high school. Ashton Kutcher? Ben Afleck? These actors are well into their 30s. People had a problem when the original actors where in their 20s!

I dont want this movie remade, its fine just the way it is, end of story.

Well....maybe if they got Phoebe Cates's daughter to take over her role as Linda....😎

I don't think cheesy, unrealistic looking cgi effects or half-ass acting from mediocre actors(most actors nowadays) will make it any better. Many teens nowadays want so badly to feel like they're growing up in the 80s, and 90s, so they feel like retro classics need to be remade. Dont get me wrong, they remade movies back then too but they weren't obsessed with it, also believed in originality, and didn't have mediocre actors back then. Like I said, it doesn't need to be remade, so they need to leave it alone.

Nice job on COMPLETELY missing the point of my post. 👍

As a child (5 years old when this was made) of the 80s and teen of the 90s, I say "whats your problem".

No *beep* way does this need to be remade.

I like the sentiment, but perfection need not be tinkered with! Perfect as is!

None of the stars of Fast Times were stars then. They were all young unknowns.

A remake that came close to the real thing would be a miracle.

The only way your cast would work would be if they were all foreigners in their late 30's and 40's trying to pass the citizenship test or the oldest high school dropouts in existence.

WORST IDEA EVER. First off, some of the people you are casting as high school kids are in their 40's.

Second of all this movie does not need a remake and a remake would not make sense. The characters and appeal came because this was filmed in the 80's. This movie is good because it is a time piece. I am not even going to comment any further your idea is stupid and I would petition for them not to do a remake before I would petition to do one. I will watch and enjoy the original.

Other than the OP it is unanimous. It aint happening.

Sometimes I wish for a sequel. Maybe a Fast Times Class Reunion, but beyond that no remake.

...............ZING!
