I know it's strange to call E.T underrated.. But I really sorta think it is. It should rank up there with the all-time greats. It's a perfect film.

shareAbsolutely agree. And re-watching it as an adult it's only struck me as being a better film than what i thought of it as kid. As a kid you're just struck by the spectacle of it all, the imagery and the music score. But now i'm mature enough to understand it's emotional subtext as well; basically one of the great sentimental masterpieces.
The IMDb 250 or whatever is obviously not worth taking seriously.
I agree. I have no idea why it's so underrated. This is a movie I would expect to be in the top 100 at least. 7.9 rating is egregiously low!
