Interesting. This shows that Deckard didn't have a four-year lifespan.
Maybe he's not a replicant after all!

I just watched Villeneuve's Prisoners a few nights ago and was entirely underwhelmed. I think I may have liked a few things about it, but I can't even remember what they might have been now. I can't fathom that the director who made this film will be directing a Blade Runner sequel. And though I think Roger Deakins makes beautiful films, I don't think his style of cinematography will do Blade Runner 2049 justice. When he was first announced as the cinematographer I thought, well maybe, with the right director, but my hopes have been dashed. Being a 'glass half full' person I wanted to give this film a chance, but now I'm just scared.

Villeneuve's favorite sci-fi movies are also my favorite sci-fi movies and so it's easy to think things can't go wrong but the reality is that he only impressed me once, with Prisoners. In fact, Prisoners is one of my few good movie experiences of the last couple of years (together with Jagten). Sadly, his way of dramatizing doesn't always gel with me, but based on Prisoners (a movie that succeeds to be a drama, a thriller and a moral fable all at once), I know Villeneuve has it in him.

Oh, and Deakins is easily one of my favorite cinematographers working today. For me, he's the main reason why I don't mind the sequel.

This is a perfect example of how subjective movies are. Even though I didn't care for Prisoners, I can respect your opinion since we've discussed movies on this board for 14 years, and know that you have a critical eye. I did want to emphasize that regarding Deakins - he is also one of my favorite cinematographers, but when I think of him, I associate his style more with films like TAoJJbtCRF. However, looking over his filmography, I'd forgotten he'd done The Children of Men, Barton Fink, 1984, etc. Also, perhaps BR2049 won't be as dark as BR. The opening scene that Ridley proposed is certainly well suited to what I associate Deakins with.

or maybe to be fairer genre wise - go to the cinema and watch Arrival - before it leaves

Rumors are about of a legal battle between the film backers and the marketing team about some legal issues over copyrights, marketing of BR2 fan products - may delay picture release.
I have no credible source for this except my son works at a movie theater and he heard the release will be delayed for this reason.

Impossible is illogical.

1:44 is quite a long teaser i think - so i hope it's minimal

i want a cool photo of gosling in action first before i see a trailer

considering i only ever watch one trailer for films now - let alone for this momentous thing

this is crazy soon - they just finished shooting
