Remake

If they were to remake this movie, who would you all like to see play the lead roles (except the original actors, even though I think they could still pull it off better than anyone else)

As for me:

Deke DaSilva - Vin Diesel (I know I'm gonna some crap for this)
Matthew Fox - LL Cool J (I thought of a lot of different people, but I thought all in all, he would be the better choice)
Wulfgar - Clive Owen (If he can put his character in "Sin City" into a villanous character, I think it would pay off)

As for the rest, I could care less.

I'm gonna have to take issue with the Vin Diesel casting choice (I guess you saw that coming).

I think DaSilva could be handled pretty well by Eric Bana (I doubt he would do it though, too close to "Munich" fighting terrorist).

Fox would be perfect for Don Cheadle, who I think is one of the most underrated actors. This guy can play any part.

Wulfgar would be great for Paul Bettany. He is the actor who played Silas the evil albino monk in the "DaVinci Code".

I generally chose older actors because these guys are suppose to be believable as older, more mature seasoned anti-terrorist cops, generally mid to late thirties. Hollywood unfortunately likes 20-something actors although thirty something actors would be more believable.

Detective Munafo, DaSilva and Fox superior officer, would be handled great by Danny Aiello, and Interpol agent, Hartman (one of the best characters in the movie), would be great for Anthony Hopkins, one of the best actors of all time.

Well there's my 2 cents. I originally saw NIGHTHAWKS when it came out in 1981 and I think its one of Stallone's best flicks. Sly was disappointed when a very emotionally acted scene between he and Lindsay Wagner was cut out. His character, DaSilva, breaks down and cries in a restaurant when his wife won't get remarried with him.

Later.

As the original is almost the perfect action film I cannnot see why you would want to see a remake made of this. I think the film has aged very well too, the only thing they might do now is turn the Wulfgar character into an Arab.

As for the Vin Diesel suggestion...the less said about that the better although I realise you might be (or rather: I hope you are) kidding.

In dvdfile.com, the reviewer of "The Poseidon Adventure: Special Edition" wrote:
If an unnecessary remake is all it takes to produce a great new DVD version of the original, then bring it on!

I second that.

after 9/11 this would be a good re-make, and im a fan of the 1981 version, but id like to see the story re-done with a new cast, Don Cheadle is a perfect choice for Fox like someone already said, and for DeSilva thats a hard one, and i agree with the no Vin Deasle thing, A Man Apart is pretty much his only good movie, and Wolfgar is a hard casting choice too, maybe someone like Ron Perleman,im just saying that cause in the club scene he would be such a bad ass all pimped out in a nice suit, tough decsion though

Can't say i blame people for starting remake discussions when a ton of movies have been or are being remade. Blame the studios for that and not IMDB.

Vin Diesel is an excellent choice because DaSilva is supposed to be a NY streetwise cop and Vin Diesel fits in as he is a bit of italian and grew up in NYC.

I think Diesel would be a great DaSilva. I mean, c'mon, Stallone wasn't doin' Shakespeare for cryin' out loud. As Fox, I dunno. He wouldn's neccessarily hafta be a Black guy. Tyrese Gibson was the first guy who came to my mind, but the jury's still out on that one. Maybe James Franco could be Fox. Maybe even reunite Diesel and Paul Walker. I'm not seein' LL playin' 2nd fiddle to Diesel AT ALL! EVER! Sorry. Wulfgar, someone suggested Paul Bettany (sp?). To that I say FRICKIN' GENIUS!
