5.9 is an absolute joke.

In all fairness it should be at least a 8.0
I agree that the low rating is because of all the Travolta haters and not the movie itself.

It's now up to 6.2 so it is getting better.
I think it still should be at least a 8.0

Way underrated. This movie was huge when it came out. And it's an excellent snapshot of the chit-kicker subculture going on in oil boomtown at the time. Travolta had an iconic character in his Urban Cowboy.

This was back when they still knew how to make a good film. A terrific era of fun movies all during the '80s.
