Scott Glenn's Performance as Wes

I think the acting overall in this movie is superb, especially from the main and supporting characters. Travolta, Winger, Smith, of course were really good, but I am not over Glenn's performance as Wes, it was REALLY GOOD. He played the bad guy so well. His facial expressions read really well, his body language and the subtle things that he did, like bumping into a guy at Gilley's (and seeming to enjoy it/not give a *beep*) while walking to the dance floor at Gilley's and the hints that he gave early on that he was kind of an a-hole (the mild foreplay he displayed while dancing with Sissy to make Bud jealous). He wasn't on screen for a very long time but every scene he was in absolutely captivated me. I watched this movie as a kid and loved it then, but seeing it now and witnessing these stellar performances really cements this movie as one of my favorites.

I could not agree more! I was really young when this came out and was embarrassed to admit I had a crush on Wes....lol Everytime I see Scott Glenn in any other movie, I say "hey there's Wes Hightower.." lol

Best performance in the film. By a long shot.

Agreed. It was a great performance. He was simultaneously attractive and repellent, which is hard to pull off.

And he was HOT! I saw this movie about 200 times back in the VHS days, and would fast-forward through the parts with Winger and Travolta bitching at each other.

He was also excellent in "The Right Stuff", one of my favorite movies of the 1980s. He's always good, but he was never quite as hot as he is in this film.
