Was this the last great Star Wars movie?

This was great, very well storyboarded, Planet Hoth, AT-AT's, Dagobah, Yoda, Asteriods, Cloud City, epic Light Saber battle!

Did it ever get better than this?

For me, Revenge of the Sith is a great Star Wars film. But not the best, Star Wars (1977) still reigns as the best.

Nope.
THIS movie, and Hasbro, created SW as we know it (not the first movie).

It really blew that universe wide open, showing its immense possibilities and a sense of wander as something that could expand and take our imagination to any place.

It's the greatest sequel ever with Godfather II.

reply

Hell, I'd go even further and claim its the ONLY great Star Wars movie.

reply

I echo that sentiment.

The first movie to me is more of an introduction and warm up, for this movie.

reply

AT-AT's, AT-AT's, AT-AT's, AT-AT's!!!

I like 1-6. The prequels are a little iffy, but miles better than the shit that Disney put out. Return is underrated, it has moments as seriously dramatic as Empire (the Luke, Darth Vader and Emperor scenes).

reply

So, does that mean that you agree that Empire was the last great Star Wars movie, or are you saying that Return of the Jedi and/or one of the Prequels would also qualify as "great"? Saying that the PT are "a little iffy" suggests that you definitely think none of them hit that "great" bar.

reply

Empire is a great movie in general, 1-3, 4 and 6 are great Star Wars movies.

reply

Return of the Jedi.

Was complete $h!t.

reply

For me it is. I think they've been poor or average ever since this one.

No matter how much time has passed since, Return Of The Jedi remains a disappointing conclusion. The ewoks, the opening 30 minutes at Jabba's place which drags in places, Han Solo not given much to do, forests and deserts again just like the original instead of more alien environments like Empire gave us....

Never cared much for any of the prequels and sequels. So yeah, Empire was the last great Star Wars film.

It's a shame if this is the last one you enjoy because there's no conclusion to it but there it is.
