How did Dennis Franz ever get another acting part?
Not that everyone else's work was stellar in this film, but he was particularly bad.

I thought he was hilarious as the arrogant loudmouth big city cop. And certainly not unintentionally so.

I think he launched a NYC TV cop stereotype--that doesn't exist anywhere in NYC, and was always played by Dennis Frantz, at least until the end of NYPD Blue. What's extra hilarious is his unmistakable Chicago accent.
sharenot really. he was in Psycho II and Popeye the Movie. he wasn't a crass vulgar cop but he starred in Popeye and Psycho II as loudmouth bullies. makes you wonder about him
shareI thought he was great in the film. Played more or less the same part in NYPD Blue and Die Hard 2!
He's also good in De Palma's Blow Out.
Was it a millionaire who said "Imagine no possessions"?
Quit worrying, he hasn't worked in 10 years.
Perhaps the OP just wants to reach out for some sense of community.
Compared to Nancy Allen, he was Olivier.
sharehes also in psycho 2
shareFranz was deliciously obnoxious as coarse sleazeball cop Marino. He was likewise memorable as a similarly slimy character in Blow Out for De Palma.
I am the Duke of IMDb bio writers! I am A#1!
After this film, I'm not surprised he was given the role of any douche in future works. He slam dunks it.
shareI am a Chicago born native- he is like every chi town cop I ever met. He reminds me of nick Miller on new girl (I think his name is Jake Johnson) we have a certain way of talking that Dennis Franz nailed.
