Daughters of Eve, Sons of Adam?

Why can't they also be sons of Eve and daughters of Adam?

Is a daughter ONLY the daughter of her mother, and son only the son of his father? Makes no sense!

Also, this would mean that people of Narnia take the Bible literally and seriously, when most people of Earth don't even do that.

How would they even know about the Bible and the stories within it, if they barely know that humans even exist?

Why would they believe THAT story without researching it, instead of all the alternatives?

What kind of sense does it make to call someone 'daughter of Eve' EVEN if the story is true? I mean, 'descendant' is _NOT_ the same thing as 'daughter', for crying out loud!

Also, if that story was true, all these people of Narnia wouldn't mind incest at all - for someone to BE 'daughter of Eve', would have to be the result of incest, if the Bible is to be believed.

The worst part is - WHY do the kids nod and accept all of this without question or correction? "Are you son of Adam?" "nod".
What?

What kid would do that? Wouldn't they say something like "No, my mom's name is Blanche" or something?

Why would they NEVER correct those Narnians constantly calling them "sons of Adam" or "daughter of Eve"?

NONE OF THIS MAKES ANY SENSE!!

Talking animals are pretty weird, but .. SMOKING animals? What? WHY? Who thought THAT was a good idea? Wouldn't kids be inspired to start smoking, watching this cartoon??

"That cute beaver smokes a pipe, I want to smoke a pipe, too!".. Who was in charge of this weird production?

Also, very exciting to just sit drinking tea and listen to beavers vomit exposition all over the place. What an amazing story.. exposition after exposition while sitting down.

This story isn't a historical document any more than the Bible is. I wouldn't think too hard about either one. At least this story is an enjoyable read.

First, you are thinking far to literally. The Chronicles of Narnia employ a whole host of allegory and metaphor.

Second, to your questions about "Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve," you are aware, I assume, that Jews in general are called the Children of Abraham and Sarah? When someone converts to Judaism a man is referred to as a Son of Abraham and a woman as a Daughter of Sarah? The designation is a symbolic reference to the origins of a people. It is also common in such symbology to refer to boys as son of a male figure and girls as daughters of a female figure.

So, Son of Adam, Daughter of Eve simply means human beings, those descended from Adam and Eve.

Also, Narnia is entwined with Christianity. Aslan the lion is Jesus. Again, that is part of the entire series. Humans are legendary to the inhabitants of Narnia. Part of their legends refer to humans and what they will do.

"Smoking." At the time of Narnia many people smoked. Few thought it was a bad habit and certainly not something you should keep from children. Movies of the time showed smokers all the time. Doctors smoked, dentists smoked. You could smoke in restaurants. Non-smoking sections were unheard of.

I hope this helps.

I REALLY hope that this was intended as a troll post and that the original poster isn't being serious about any of those..."questions".

C. S. Lewis and his dear friend J. R. R. Tolkien are described as heavy smokers, "Tolkien always with a pipe and Lewis alternating between pipes and cigarettes."
