Does anyone REALLY like The Doors?

Not me. I hate them.

I find it really hard to get beyond them and into this film.

But the question is:-

Does anyone really, truly like this band? Or is it just the sort of band that people perceive of as supposedly being cool or whatever and say they like?

I think it's the later. No-one really enjoys listening to them. Surely.

I have their greatest hits cd. They're an iconic band that defined their era. Break on Through, Touch Me, Light My Fire - timeless tracks.

Jim Morrison's swagger was hard to beat, he was a big influence on a lot of singers I like such as Scott Weiland and Chris Cornell, they kept his spirit going.

Only people with REAL music tastes that haven't had their hearing ruined with that rap crap they try to call music nowadays.

When I was a kid, I remember thinking "Touch Me / I'm Gonna Love You" was a Christmas song as it just had this over-the-top jovial atmosphere to it.

"Break on Through" is a classic though.

"The End" I don't find the most interesting song in the world, but I think it fits this movie like a glove. It's almost like it was written with this film in mind, especially that iconic opening with the helicopters zipping back and forth over the trees.

I wonder if we will ever have another filmmaker as visionary as early-career Coppola (before One From the Heart broke him).
