Was Alien considered “Star Wars for Adults” when it first came out since it was only a couple years after the original Star Wars film was released and has darker, mature themes despite being another sci-fi movie set in space with robots and aliens?

shareNah. Star Wars did make space cool though, so no doubt producers were like ‘I wanna horror movie… in space!’ and commissioned a trashy horror flick called Starbeast, but with much script development and bringing in talent like Geiger, Ridley and Sigourney they ended up making a classic.
