I mean with Eddie Murphy doing Beverly Hills Cop 4, why not?

Because Ripley died in Alien 3 (on her request) and when she desperately tried to resurrect her career with Alien Resurrection she made a terrible film.

She won’t be going back there, plus she’s old now.

Ah pish posh. Jamie Lee Curtis came back for Halloween and boy was she old, so Sigourney could come back for the right amount of money and a "great story" for her character. All the old guys and gals come back, even Bill Murray!
